It is with great sadness, we the family of Dorothy June Oickle, a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at the Guest Home.
Born April 21, 1934, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Charles and Muriel (Lane) Oickle.
Dorothy served in the Canadian Air Force from 1952 to 1954. She also worked at the Bairncroft Orphanage in Sydney River for 20 years. Dorothy was very active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Peppett Street, North Sydney. She was involved with Dorcas, the World Day of Prayer, evangelistic meetings and all social gatherings within the church.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Stephen, Ottawa; her brother, Alex (Patsy) Oickle, North Sydney; her sisters, Betty Lou (Robert) Gullage, Georges River, and Donna (John) Anderson, North Sydney; sister-in-law, Ollie Myers, Middle River; and also her nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Walter, James Oickle, sister, Joy Hodder and brother-in-law, Dave Hodder.
There will be no visitation by request. A Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Peppett Street with Pastor Lloyd Steves officiating. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Reception to follow at the Church. Family flowers only.
