Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, surrounded by his loving family, Alfred Joseph Melvin of Tors Cove (formerly of LaManche Village) in his 85th year. Predeceased by his mother and father Catherine and John Thomas Melvin, stepsister Genevieve Power, step-brother Samuel Melvin, his brothers: Cyril and Bernie Melvin, brothers-in-law: Thomas Colbert and George Colbert. Leaving to mourn his wife of 53 years Matilda and daughter Connie Marie; son-in-law Robert Reddigan; sisters: Nellie Colbert and Mary Colbert; sisters-in-law: Marie Melvin, Mary Melvin and Rita Melvin; also many nieces and nephews especially Cyrilie Melvin, Linda and Geraldine Colbert; as well as a large circle of family and friends. A special thanks to the staff of the fourth floor of St. Patrick’s Mercy Home. Your thoughtfulness and kindness will never be forgotten. Resting at Ryan’s Funeral Home, Bay Bulls on Wednesday, April 6th and Thursday, April 7th from 2 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11 a.m. from St. Michael’s R.C. Church, St. Michael’s. Cremation to follow.
