Harvey Dobson

It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Harvey "Buster" Dobson, age 74, of Amherst, which occurred on Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Centre, Halifax.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late George "Jud" and Viola "Dode" (Weatherbee) Dobson.
Buster was an avid outdoorsman. His passions included hunting, fishing, archery, taxidermy, painting and leather work. A self taught struggling artist with million dollar hands and a million dollar heart. He was well known as "King of the Quills", and his work can still be seen all over town on signs, murals and vehicles. He also created many paintings which can be found all over Amherst and surrounding areas. He was also a very skilled carpenter, building everything from picture frames to furniture. While working in Ontario, he became a born again Christian, and remained devout to his faith and his family.
He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Velvet (Mike) Cook, Enfield, Diana (Dave Decker) Dobson, Amherst; 5 grandchildren, Tristan (Kaitlin), Evan, Tiffany (Travis), Tyler and Wyatt; great grandson Alexander; ex-wife Joanne Dobson, Amherst; sister-in-law Virginia Frasier, Toronto, niece Vicki (Peter), Orangeville and nephew Tully, Toronto.
He was predeceased by brother Lesley Frasier.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St, Amherst (902-667-8777) where visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Friday at 2 pm, Pastor Morris Mills officiating. Burial will take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date.
