The death occurred peacefully at her daughter's residence in Charlottetown on April 3, 2011, of Barbara Alice Marchbank (nee McAllar), beloved wife of the late Melvin George Marchbank, age 94. Barbara was the dear mother of Marion Hole (Fred), Kingston, N.S., Marguerite Wood (Tom), Cornwall, Geraldine Bowes (Ian), Charlottetown, Carolyn Warkentin (John), New Haven, Deborah Loosdtrecht (John), Harrison Hot Springs, B.C., Susan Abou Resk (George), Bonshaw, Melvin Jr. (Linda), Lot 16, Vernon (Gayle), Tyne Valley, Gary, St. Eleanors, Hubert (Joyce), Kensington and Christopher (Margaret), Enniskillen, Ont. She was the cherished grandmother of 42 and great-grandmother of 57. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Kay McAllar, Ottawa, Pearl McAllar, O'Leary, and Vera Kumpula, Barrie, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Hubert and Mary (MacKinnon) McAllar of The Brae; her infant daughter, Kathy; an infant son, Douglas; two infant great-grandsons, Jacob and Mitchell; brothers, John, Dan, Jim, Mark, Arling, Gerald and Raymond; sisters, Lillian Milligan, Isabelle Bulger, twin Mary Cardwell and Marguerite LeDuc; brothers-in-law, Curtis Milligan, Mike Bulger, Pat Cardwell, Roland LeDuc, Kier Marchbank and Laurie Kumpula; sisters-in-law, Yvonne McAllar, Ivy McAllar, Lillian Marchbank and Wilda Murphy; mother and father-in-law, Webster and Elma (Sillick) Marchbank; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at the Father Clare Macdonald Lounge of St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, Cornwall for visitation on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at the church on Thursday at 10 a.m. The Committal Service will be held at the Tyne Valley United Church Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. to be followed by a reception at the Tyne Valley Fire Hall at 2 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Barbara's memory to the Autism Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
