Edwin (Eddie) Bailey, 73, of Sydney Mines, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 6, 2011, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Sydney Mines on Oct. 20, 1937, Eddie was the son of the late Edwin and Margaret (Rateau) Bailey.
He is survived by his loving ‘Sweetsie’ Ella (Woods); daughter, Darlene (David); grandson, Tristan, Halifax; stepson, Kenny (Jennifer); brother, John (Marlene), North Sydney; sisters, Barbara (David) Martin, Sydney Mines and Sheila Luker, George’s River, and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Chubbs Forrest, and Jimmy MacIntyre, for the kindness and friendship shown to Eddie over the years.
Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by a sister, Betty MacIntyre and brothers, Joseph, Claudie and Henry.
At Eddie’s request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A celebration of Eddie’s life will take place on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Thomas John officiating. A reception will be held in the parish hall, following the service.
