Clare Currie passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on April 8, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (MacPhee) Currie.
For the past 10 years Clare was a double-lung recipient and a strong advocate for organ donation. Clare met all her struggles over the years with faith and strength and was inspiration to all who knew her.
She is survived by her darling daughters, Tracy (Johnny) Moore, Glace Bay, and Lisa Hyde, Mississauga; her beloved partner, Gordon Seury, Sydney; brothers, John (Kate) Sydney, Bernie (Patricia), Sydney Mines, Dougall (Bev) Dartmouth; sisters, Eleanor Currie, Sydney Mines, Sharon O’Neil (Alex), Ontario, and several nieces and nephews.
She will be dearly missed by her precious angels, Stephanie, Jeremy, Jonathan and Mitchell. Time spent with her grandchildren were her most treasured moments.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Liam.
In honoring Clare’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Main Street, Sydney Mines. A Celebration of her life will be held Tuesday April 12, 2011, at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Convent Street, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Ajit Kerketta officiating. The burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lung Association, Organ Donation, Lupus Society or a charity of one’s choice.
