It is with great sadness that the family of the late Richard “Rick” Rankine announce his peaceful passing following a lengthy illness at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, April 8th, 2011 at the age of 60 years.  He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Susan, children; Sarah & Matthew, parents; Emma & Vernon, brother; Jimmy, sister; Susan, extended family Krista and Jeff, sisters-in-law; Karen Grant (Gord), Beverly Robertson (Wayne), brothers-in-law: Robert Jayne (Phyllis), Randy Jayne (Christine) and Richard Jayne (Patricia), nieces and nephews: Kimberley, Christopher, Paulette, Amanda, Jennifer, Blair, Patrick and Alliah, great nieces and nephew and a large circle of friends.  Throughout his business career, Rick, along with his wife Susan managed and operated various Sobeys/Foodland franchises in Newfoundland.  During this time he developed strong and lasting friendships with many colleagues especially Gord and Sheila Ingram, Perry & Kathy Fillier, and Bruce & Sheila Holloway.  Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Rick’s life will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Monday, April 11th, 2011 from 2-4 p.m.  As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook.  The family guest book may be signed or memorial donations may be made by visiting our website at www.country-haven.ca.
