Doreen McNaught
1921-2011 - Doreen McNaught, 89, of Riverside-Albert passed away peacefully on April 11, 2011 at the Forest Dale Home. Doreen was born on September 27, 1921 in Goshen, Albert County, NB, the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Loretta (Purtil) Layden. Doreen worked at Fundy National Park until her retirement. She was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church and was also very involved in the CWL when she was able. Doreen and her husband Philip were founding members of the Fundy Curling Club and enjoyed many fun times at the curling club. She had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, her family meant everything to her. She was always there for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, they all held their own special place in her heart. She treasured all the time spent with her family and friends. She will live on in the hearts of her loved ones forever. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Margaret (George) Steeves of Dawson Settlement, Donna Stuart (Gerald) of Midway and Monica Rossiter (Earl) of Beaverbrook and by her son, Tommy McNaught (Nancy) of Riverview; her cherished 12 grandchildren and treasured 17 great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Vincent of Moncton; sisters-in-law, Nellie Layden of Goshen and Velma Layden of Petitcodiac. She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Phillip; son, Jimmy; grandson, Scott; five sisters and six brothers.
She will be resting at her residence in Riverside-Albert (5960 King Street) with family visitation on Wednesday from 4 to 8pm, everyone is welcome for visitation at her home on Thursday from 4 to 8pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church on Friday, April 15th, 2011 at 10am with Father Phil Mulligan officiating. Interment will be held in the Holy Ghost Catholic Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB. Following the service everyone is invited back to Doreen's home for further sharing of memories and for refreshments. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Society or to the Holy Ghost Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
