William Leslie Burbank passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011. He was born in the Boharm district on September 7, 1920. Bill was educated in Saskatchewan, graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in Local Government Administration in 1956. He served in the R.C.A.F. from 1942 to 1945. After his discharge he began a long and rewarding career in rural local government (48 years). Bill was the Administrator for the R.M. of Baildon from 1945 to 1950, and the R.M. of Moose Jaw from 1950 to 1980, during which time he was also Administrator of the R.M. of Hillsborough from 1968 – 1990. He was President of the R.M. Administrative Assoc. of Sask. for 4 years and was a director of the Sask. Assoc. of Rural Municipalities. During his career he was a member of many boards and committees. He enjoyed his work and felt that over the many years the rural people were very good to him. Bill loved animals, especially horses and dogs. Predeceased by his parents Peter Mathew and Mary Ann, he is survived by his wife Evelyn, and two daughters Cathy Seed and Barbara (Dean) Tollefson. Friends are invited to join the Family for a Memorial Tea at Jones Family Centre, 262 Athabasca St. E., on Friday, April 15, 2011 from 1:30 – 3:00 pm. Private Committal Services will be held at the Family Plot, Rosedale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, S6H 7K7, would be appreciated.
