GREENO, Lois A. — 91, of Windsor, formerly of Union Corner, Hants County, passed away in her sleep on Saturday, February 5, 2011, at home at the Gladys Manning Retirement Community, Windsor. Born on July 9, 1919, in Parrsboro, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Harris and Gladys (Smythe) Yorke. Before her retirement, she was employed for many years with Hants Co-op Services, Brooklyn. She was a faithful member of the Newport United Church, Brooklyn, the U.C.W. and also the Newport Jolly Seniors. She is survived by her brother, Lewis (Eloise) Yorke, Parrsboro; and several nieces and nephews. Well loved and respected for her strength of spirit, her tact and diplomacy, she will be greatly missed by family and friends, both in the community and in her more recent home at the Manning. Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, Burpee Martin Greeno (1981); sisters, Florence Babineau, Dorothy Mosher, Norma Yorke, Ethelyn Stewart and Hazel Merry; brothers, Cyril, Laurie and Allan Yorke; and by nephews, Hughie and Evan Yorke. Cremation has taken place, under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. No visitations by request. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2011, in the Newport United Church, Brooklyn, with the Rev. Pix Butts officiating. Interment will be held in the Riverview Haven Cemetery, Union Corner.
