Marjorie Unsworth MacLeod

Marjorie peacefully passed away during early morning hours at Ivy Meadows Continuing Care Facility, Halifax. Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. after finishing her schooling she worked for radio station CFCY in Charlottetown for a short period. Then, moving to Halifax she was employed by the CBC. Working there in different positions. After a few years, her constant spirit of adventure-- and she had an active one-- sparked up. She enrolled in a course for "mature students “at Quo Vadus School for nursing in Toronto. She graduated there with Registered Nurse (RN) status in 1972. Spent time in Toronto and then that "spirt sparked up “and she moved back to Halifax. Joined the staff at the Sir. Izaak Walton Killam (IWK) sick children's hospital. She then enrolled there in a course of "pediatric/neonatal care. On completion of training she worked in the hospital doing both secretarial work and nursing duties. Her spirit came once again, and Marjorie decided to head north. She went and worked in Labrador at the Sir Wilfred Grenville Mission, a hospital, on the north coast of Labrador. She remained there a short period and moved further north. Marjorie joined the nursing staff at a hospital in the town of Aklavik on the Mackenzie River Delta where it enters the Arctic Ocean After a couple of years she came back to Halifax, worked again at the IWK, in Halifax, from which she eventually retired . She moved to Round Hill in the Annapolis Valley, purchased a house lived there for a period and eventually sold and moved back to Halifax. While doing all this she with friends (of which she had many) found the time to travel and bicycle around Europe including Scotland. Marjorie was predeceased by her father, Leith Erwin MacLeod and mother Mae Alexandra MacLeod, of Charlottetown. She leaves to morn her brother Alan Macleod of Hudson Quebec. Niece Heather Oliphant now living in Guelph and nephew, Andrew MacLeod, who resides in Kingston. She will be missed by a multitude of great friends. She left instructions for her to be cremated and have her ashes buried in The People's Cemetery, St. Peters Rd., Charlottetown in the plot occupied by her father and mother. She specified no service and requested family at her side at time of burial. May you rest in peace eternal Marjorie, with St Michael his angels and all his archangels. Amen.
