Sylvia Anne Aucoin
It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of Sylvia Anne Aucoin, on June 8, 2017, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Jerome and Annie (Chiasson) O’Neil.
Sylvia dedicated her life to taking care of her kids, and in years to come her grandkids, nieces and nephews. Her great love of people and animals, especially cats, meant she was always there to help and nurture however she could. Sylvia also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and going for walks on the boardwalk in Sydney.
Sylvia leaves behind her loving husband, and best friend, Jim Assoun; children, Frank (Janice), Darlene, Ricky (Kim), and Kathy; grandchildren, Megan, Logan, Brandon, Trevor, Kendra, Kenzie and Cody. Siblings, Fabian (Carolann) and Bonnie (Irving). She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Lisa, Allison, Dana, and Scott, also stepchildren Cathy, Jimmy, Peter, and Tracy.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by son-in-law, Herbie.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Sylvia will be held on Monday June 12, 2017 from 12-2 p.m. in the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
