In loving memory of Mike Urbenz born on May 8, 1932 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario who passed on June 10, 2017. Parents: Rose Valentine and Joe Urbanc. Mike a steamfitter by trade graduated from George Brown in Toronto, Ontario. Survived by his wife of 61 years. Ramona Urbenz (nee Christopher); children: Sharen Urbenz, (Lucas Burnett (Jessica) (Kyle Burnett), great-grandchild (Wyatt Burnett), Stephen Urbenz, Martin Urbenz (Bonnie White-Urbenz); grandchildren (Cassandra and Marcus Urbenz), Tina Urbenz (Michael Neville) and Brenda Urbenz-Lockyer (David Lockyer) grandchildren (Liam and Ethan Lockyer); uncle George Valentine (like a brother) (Syliva); niece (Sandy) Valentine; nephew Philip Ubene and nieces Roxanne Montello and Roseann Pikelin; extended relatives the Christopher Family. Predeceased by his mother Rose Valentine; father Joe Urbanc; brother Joe Ubene (Jeannine); (like brothers) Fred (June) Christopher, Ed Christopher, Derm Christopher and Mack Christopher Grandma, Grandpa Valentine and Grandpa and Grandma Urbanc and Newf the dog. Mike a devoted family man and friend. Ramona says, "Mike use to be laughing all the time!" He always had a joke and story to share. While Mike lived and worked as a Steamfitter in Toronto for many years he enjoyed great times with his wife, children and best friends May and Don Marshall and Allen and Joyce Quigley. He enjoyed going to the beach, making home family movies, building small remote control airplanes, making skating rinks in the backyard for the kids and working with his colleagues as a steamfitter in Toronto, Ontario. Mike sure could sing a tune and play the harmonica as well. When Mike and Mona moved to Corner Brook, Newfoundland he worked as a security guard where he retired. In Mike's retirement he enjoyed spending time with his wife Ramona and family and Newf the dog. Playing Play Station 2, taking walks, babysitting his grandchildren Liam and Ethan, Spending time with relatives, making and flying kites, listening to the radio and playing music CDs, doing crossword puzzles, enjoying nature and feeding the birds. A service celebrating his life will take place on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Country Haven Funeral Home.
