William Peter Holmes passed away on Thursday, April 7th, 2011 at the Union Hospital in Moose Jaw, after a brief illness. Bill, at the age of 82, beloved husband of Margaret for over 53 years. Loving father of Lorne (Lisa) of Stony Beach, SK, Michael (Cheryl), of Stony Beach, SK, and Neil (Sherrie) of Boise, Idaho. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren Shaun, Elizabeth, Daniel and Erik, and by his nieces Sharon and Janice Baldock. He is predeceased by his sister Eileen Andreas. Bill was born on March 14th, 1929 on the family farm near Stony Beach, SK., to John and Jane Holmes. He grew up farming with his parents until taking the farm over after his marriage to Margaret in July of 1958. Bill and Margaret raised their three sons on the farm and received the Century Family Farm Award in 2008. They retired to Moose Jaw in 2009, but farming was Bill's life and passion and he remained involved. A Memorial Tea will be held on Friday, April 15th, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W. Moose Jaw, with an interment to follow at Stony Beach Cemetery.
