It is with great sadness, we the family of John Hunt, announce his passing on Saturday, June 18, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Sydney Mines on March 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Reginald and Irene (O’Toole) Hunt.
Jackie was a proud veteran and coal miner of 39 years. Dad was a strong hardworking man who enjoyed working outdoors, playing the guitar, and had an undying love for animals.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Mary (Young); his son, Jackie and daughter, Bonnie (Greg) Haley. He is also survived by his brother, Charlie (Rosemarie); and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents Jackie was predeceased by his sisters, Mary and Josephine, and his brother, Fred. Thank You to Dr. A. Wawer, to the staff of 4 West at the Northside General Hospital and to the Palliative Care and Cancer Center Staff, Sydney, who took great care of Dad.
As per Dads wishes, there will be no visitation and a private burial will be held at a later date under the direction of J.M. Jobes Funeral Home Sydney Mines. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
