Kathleen Mildred 'Kay' Ings

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Kathleen (Kay) Ings announce her peaceful passing into the glorious kingdom of God.
Kay was a faithful member of Trinity Anglican Church and co-owner of Goodwin nurseries for 40 years. In her youth, she was active in the AYPA, where she met Angus, the love of her life. Family was the focus of Kay’s life. She may have been tiny in stature, but she had the biggest, warmest and kindest heart with room for everyone. Kay had an open and welcoming home that was always full of love and wonderful treats. You never left her kitchen with empty hands or tummy.
Kay is survived by her loving children, sons, Bob (Sharon), Bill (Margie); and daughters, Kathy (Brian) OToole and Mary (Rev. Peter) Rafuse; Bill Burchell, who she loved as one of her own; and daughter-in-law, Gayle Ings; grandchildren, Joanne, Robyn, Trinity, Bryan, Matthew, Kaelyn, Jason, Faye and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Michael, Bonnie, Danielle, October, Porter, Lenaya and Alexandra; many nieces, nephews and her special cat, Oreo.
Kay was predeceased by her husband, Angus, parents, Robert and Mary Goodwin, son, David, granddaughter, Arianne, special nephew, Harold, who loved her fishcakes, sisters, Audrey and Evelyn, brothers, Joe and Frank, and her best friend, Georgie Barrie.
Visitation for Kay Ings will be held in the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, on Thursday, April 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place Friday at 2 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, Queen Street, Sydney Mines, with her son-in-law Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. A reception will follow in the Grandy Hall.
Donations in Kay’s memory may be made to Trinity Anglican Church, The Alzheimer’s Society, or the Cape Breton SPCA, 104 East Broadway, Sydney, N.S., B1P 6J1.
