Harvey Amos
AMOS, Harvey Gerald – 79, Shag Harbour, passed away Monday, June 26 2017, in the Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born August 30 1937, in Dauphin, Manitoba, he was a son of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Snedden) Amos. In Harvey’s younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and curling. He was a member of the curling club and volunteered on the Woods Harbour ambulance. He was also a treasurer of the St. James Wesley United Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Stoddart); children, James, Kathryn, Scott, David; step-son, Gary Hartman; brother, Herbert; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his step-son, Geoff Hartman. Cremation took place under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There was a memorial service held Friday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington, with Rev. Brenda McCurdy officiating. Interment followed in the Birch Hill Cemetery, Bear Point. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the St. James Wesley United Church, Barrington.
