
Margaret Elizabeth Shaw
It is with our deepest sadness and heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Margaret (Peggy) Elizabeth Shaw. Peggy was called home on June 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney. Born in Baddeck, Victoria County, she was the daughter of the late Catherine Ann Shaw and Dan Neil Shaw. Peggy lived in Wreck Cove most of her life, then moved to Sydney in the early 1980’s. It is there that she attended Cape Breton University with her Bachelor of Arts, Community Studies degree. She was also a faithful member of AA for nearly 30 years. It is there she met a lot of her loyal friends including the love of her life, Chad Joshi. Peggy will always be remembered for her unconditional love and her willingness to help others in need. She is survived by son, Nicholas; daughters, Stephanie (Ian), Maggie (Alex); grandchildren, Kayden and Naraya. Also left to mourn are her sisters, Anne, Josephine; brothers, Gerald (Josephine), John (Marlene), Murdock (Marlene), Billy (Sally), Wayne (Wendy), Richard (Laura), Donald (Kim) Freeman; sister-in-law, Sheila Shaw. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews, and her loyal companion and best buddy Nelly bell. Besides her parents, Peggy is predeceased by her partner, Chad Joshi; brother; Abraham Shaw and sister, Nelly Mae and brother-in-law, Bill Mischiek. Visitation will be Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 12-2 p.m. Followed by a celebration of life at 2 p.m. , in the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Sydney, Rev Sheldon Chant Officiating.
