Ruth Winnifred Cameron
It is with sadness we, the family announce the passing of Ruth Winnifred Cameron, 87, of New Glasgow and formerly of Caledonia at the Aberdeen Hospital on Saturday July 1, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Cameron Settlement she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Bertha (Kirk) Cameron.
Ruth was a member of the Bethel Church, Caledonia later attending the St. Columba United Church in Hopewell. She was a member of the MacDonald Rebekah lodge #108 Sunnybrae. She loved to attend social events and enjoyed listening to music at home and away. She enjoyed playing cards and camping where she met many new people. She loved being with her family at all times, and she made many good friends over the years especially “Marlene”.
She is survived by daughters: Debbie (Melvin) Cruikshank, Caledonia; Donna (Rob) Douglas, New Glasgow; sons: Eddy (Linda), Stellarton; Arnie (Debbie) Hopewell; Alvin, Durham; daughter-in-law Donna Cameron, New Glasgow; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; a sister Muriel MacDonald, New Glasgow; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John, a son Roy, brothers Roy and Clairie and a sister Georgie Cameron.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday with Rev. Bonnie Fraser presiding. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home. Family burial will take place at the Bethel Cemetery, Caledonia.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society or to a charity of one’s choice
The family would like to thank all the Doctors and Nurses at the Aberdeen Hospital and St. Martha’s Hospital for their care and concern.
