Austin Gosling passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 5, 2017. He was surrounded by his children as he left to join his wife Margaret of 59 years, who recently passed in November. Born in Bonavista, Austin loved the island of Newfoundland, finding joy in its wildlife and nature. He shared this with his family and friends, happily touring them around, visiting family along the way, and often stopping for some chips. His strong, silent personality was softened by his endless wit, delivered with a smile. He was always the source of laughs, many around the kitchen table while enjoying a game of cards. Austin leaves behind his loving children Deborah Ann (Roger), Lynn Marie (Dan), Paul (Tacey) and Keith, his grandchildren Jonathan (Stephanie), Matthew, Adam, Taija and Noah, as well as two great-grandchildren Emma and Levi. His ties to his family were strong, always staying connected with his many brothers and sisters, of which he leaves behind Sheila, Walter, Laraine and Lons. Both Margaret and Austin were blessed with close friends that provided constant care, support, and companionship throughout the years; especially Sharon, Johnny, Clara, and Bill. The family would like to thank Dr. Misik, his family physician who provided diligent and compassionate care throughout his life, and in death. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Ave. Mt. Pearl on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral service to follow visitation at 11 a.m. from Barrett's Funeral Chapel.
