Marie Roy
Marie Roy, 87, of Moncton, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre following a courageous battle against cancer. Born on July 14, 1923 in Rogersville, she was the daughter of the late Georges and Marguerite (Barrieau) Blaquière. Marie was a homemaker devoted to her family. She attended Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church in Parkton where she worked for many years making panels. She spent the last years making quilts and was an exhibitor for 11 years at the Kent Country Agricultural Fair in Sainte-Marie-de-Kent. She is survived by one daughter with whom she resided, Gérène Richard of Moncton; one brother, Laurent Blaquière (Lucie) of Rogersville; two grandchildren: Maurice and Nicole; five great-grandchildren: Lucas, Zachary, Clover, Sébastien and Gabriel, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Emile Roy (1997); one son, Ronald (1985); her sisters and brothers: Alfred, Lucie, Léonore, Daulphine, André, Iréné, Albert, Helen, Marcel, Laura, Gérard, Yvonne and Joseph.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until time of departure (10:45). Funeral mass will be held at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce R.C. Church, 854 Mountain Road, Moncton, on Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe.
