It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Zinck on Friday, July 31, 2009, at Harbourstone Enhanced Care.
Born in Sydney in 1915, Mary was the daughter of the late Neil and Sarah Currie. She was a member of St. George’s/ Christ the King Anglican Church in Sydney. She was also a member of the St. George’s Church Women’s Guild and served as their secretary for a number of years. Mary belonged to the Cape Breton local Pythian Sisters Lodge in Sydney and the Old Sydney Historical Society.
Mary had a great love of music. She enjoyed singing and performed in several choirs. Mary was employed at Eaton’s for a number of years. She will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her son, Lorne (Donna) Zinck; her grandchildren, Laura (Rob) Avery, Dartmouth, Mark Zinck, Sydney, Beverly (Steven) Zinck Dukeshire, Truro, Sue (Tim) Zinck Chipman, Halifax, Ron (Keila) Zinck, Halifax; and her great-grandchildren, Brie Dukeshire and Rebecca Chipman.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Ainsley Zinck, her sons, David Zinck and Stanley Zinck and her brother Angus Currie.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Kenwood Hall, Levatte’s Lane, in Harbourstone for the wonderful care and kindness they provided.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6 at Sydney Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brenda Drake officiating. Interment following in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
