REDDICK, Elizabeth “Betty”
Peacefully on Friday July 28 at Arborstone Enhanced Care Betty Reddick went home to be with her Lord in her 80th year.
Betty was born in 1937 in Trenton, Nova Scotia to the late Charles and Myrtle (Gray) Reddick.
Survived by her sisters Nellie (Toronto), Esther (Montreal) and Irene (London, Ontario); her brother Charles (Vancouver); and her nieces Elaine (London, Ontario) and Cheryl (Kenora).
Predeceased by her sister Joyce and brothers Carmen, Ross and Caldwell and sisters-in-law Elsie and Debby.
Godmother to Heather Bosch and Douglas Desmond. Special friend to Kimberly Mills and baby Keegan. Betty will be fondly remembered by her many cousins, friends, and family.
Betty graduated from the Nova Scotia Normal College and began the teaching career she loved at Partridge River School in East Preston. She then taught in Halifax for many years at Bloomfield School until its closure and retired in 1993 from Joseph Howe Elementary School. She remained an active member of the Retired Teachers Association of both City and County.
Betty was a devoted member of Cornwallis Street Baptist Church and was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary and had served as a deaconess, usher, teller and helped to guide children in their relationship with God all while facing many illnesses and health challenges. Her devotion to her family, friends and her firm belief in God supported her in all her struggles and ultimately gave her peace.
Betty found the joy in every moment and lived a life of appreciating the glass half-full. She showed her love and appreciation to others through her plentiful and delicious cooking, baking and knitted gifts. She will be missed as a sister, aunt, friend and community member.
Visitation will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A celebration of Betty’s life will take place at Cornwallis Street Baptist Church Wednesday at 11 a.m. Reverend Dr. Rhonda Britton officiating, assisted by Reverend Dr. Lionel Moriah. Interment Oakridge Memory Gardens.
