Doede “Dougie” Jaarsma
We have been overwhelmed by the expressions of condolences and appreciate everything people have done to help us get through this difficult time. Thanks to Jean, Sandy and their families for being there for us and continuing to be there with their love and support. To all that visited Dougie in the hospital, attended the wake and funeral and those who travelled distances, sent food to our homes and church reception, cards, flowers, monetary gifts/charitable donations, phone calls and emailed.
Thank you to those who took part in the church service, pallbearers, honorary pallbearers, Gabarus Fire Department, Dougie’s co-workers (for the parade of service vehicles), Brian Fitzgerald’s reading and Astrid Willebrand Dutch poem, Jason MacDonald for singing Dougie’s favourite Bruce Springsteen song, to Ann MacLeod the organist, the choir, Nancy Whitney-Latham for the service and reading Sarah’s eulogy and to those who helped with the church lunch. All added a special touch to the service. Thank you to Jo-ann and Chris for the meal they prepared for all of us following the wake, and to Wendy, Sam and Mike Corbett, and Colleen and Buddy Logan for your acts of kindness. To the staff of Sydney Memorial Chapel, the health care professionals that were there to help Dougie and us, thank you all.
Dougie filled our life with laughter, love and happiness.
We love and miss you.
