PICTOU LANDING – Peter George McKeigan, age 63, of Pictou Landing, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2009, at home.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Christopher William and Edith (Benz) Mc- Keigan. He moved to Ontario in 1967, moving back to Pictou County in 1974 where he worked with Maritime Steel and the Car Works as a welder before getting into the fishing industry.
He was always helping people build and repair things in the community.
He is survived by his wife, the former Heather Baker; daughter, Lynn (Robert) De- Young, Plymouth Park; grandson, Dylan; sister-in-law, Holly (Jim) Leahy, Windsor; nieces, Erin and Morgan Leahy; Edith McKeigan, nephew, Chuck McKeigan.
He was predeceased by a brother, Gordon (Sylvia) McKeigan. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends at their residence, 5992 Pictou Landing Road, Pictou Landing, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. There will be no funeral service by request.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home New Glasgow.
