Edith (Gigi) Beeson
Aug 4, 1912 – Aug. 4, 2017

It is with sadness we announce the recent passing of Edith (Gigi) Beeson of Prince Albert exactly 105 years from the day of her birth. She is survived by her two sons, Bob (Barbara) and Ken (Roberta), grandchildren David (Leesa), Bobbi (Steve), Christopher, greatgrandchild David, and step greatgrandchild, Nathaniel. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Phyllis Stadel and numerous nephews and nieces.
Gigi was predeceased by her husband Frank, her parents, George and Mary D’Amour, brother Alfred D’Amour (Toots), sisters Georgina Weeks (Jack), Catherine Cummings (Charlie), Beatrice Bright (Pete), and Edna McDonald (Bob).
Living her entire life in Prince Albert, Gigi’s family has deep Canadian roots. Her ancestors emigrated to what was then New France in 1752, over 100 years before Confederation, later moving west with the Hudson’s Bay Company. Her great grandfather was honoured for his work with the Palliser Expedition by having Mount Brazeau in Jasper National Park named after him. Gigi worked for many years as a matron with the RCMP.
The family would like to thank Dr. Stan Oleksinski and his staff for the wonderful care they provided that allowed Gigi to remain fully active and living on her own through to the end of her life and to Dr. Shahab Kahn for the important vision care he provided. We would also like to extend our appreciation to her friends who provided help and companionship, particularly Agnes and Olga.
