Mary Rita Barr, 91, of Potomac Falls, VA, passed away on Friday 7 July 2017. Born on 25 August 1925 in Boston, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Daniel McDonald of Forest Hills P.E.I. and the late Laura MacIssac of St. Charles P.E.I. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Barr III who was serving in the U.S. Navy at the time. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Captain Robert Barr Jr. US Navy Retired, formally of Hollidaysburg, PA. Mary attended schools in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Prince Edward Island, Canada. She was always an active volunteer, including over thirty years with the American Red Cross. Mary and Bob have a home at Lakeside P.E.I. where they spent summers for many years. They have deep attachment to family and friends on P.E.I. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
