Mary Hanna, age 61, of New Waterford, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Colin Francis and Martha (MacNeil) MacDonald.
Mary was a member of Mt. Carmel Church.
She was a retired PCW with Maple Hill Manor. She truly loved her job and was dedicated to seniors. Mary was an avid card player. She loved her family and friends dearly and deeply enjoyed taking her grandchildren for walks and spending time in their presence.
Mary is survived by two sons, John Blair (Amanda) Hawley, New Waterford, Francis Patrick (Belinda) Hawley, Arichat; and one daughter, Gail Colleen Cooke, Dartmouth. Also surviving are three brothers, Bernard (Florence), Windsor, Ont., Allie, Korea, Paul (Patsy) MacDonald, New Waterford; four sisters, Colleen (Richard) Keating, California, Flora (Ronnie) Ledger, New Hampshire, Jackie (Phillip) Burns, New Waterford, Gina (Ted) Parsons, Mississauga; and five grandchildren, Merissa Brooke Hawley, Matthew James Mark, John Thomas Hawley, Savanna Rene Hawley and Gage Francis Patrick Hawley.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in New Waterford.
A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the parish of St. Leonard, Mt. Carmel Church followed by interment in the parish cemetery.
A reception will be held at the Carmel Centre.
