With gratitude for her long life and wonderful spirit, we wish to announce the passing of Marjorie Munro Murray, 88, of Northwood Manor, Halifax, who passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009, in Buchanan Memorial Hospital, Neil’s Harbour, Cape Breton.
Born Feb. 21, 1921 in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Kenneth A. and Christine (Morrison) MacKenzie.
She is survived by son, Dr. Kenneth and Linda (Bartlow) Murray, South Harbour; grandchildren, Daniel, Dingwall, Ian, Canmore, Alta., Heather and husband, Chris White, Lausanne, Switzerland, Stephen, Hamilton, Ont.; niece, Sheila (Burditt) Morrison (James), Halifax; nephew, Gordon Burditt (Diane), Calgary.
She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. William A. Murray, son, David, sister, Shirley Burditt and brother-in-law, Albert Burditt.
She will be fondly remembered by her family and many friends. She had many interests that she loved sharing with others — genealogy, local history, reading, flowers, renewing old acquaintances, making new acquaintances and taking pictures of everything.
The family will receive visitors today (Thursday), Aug. 6, 2009, from 7-9 p.m. at 5770 Spring Garden Rd. in the hospitality room on the ground floor. A service to honour her life will be held Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Fort Massey United Church, 5303 Tobin St., followed by a reception in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Buchanan Memorial Hospital Foundation, Neil’s Harbour, N.S., the Northwood Foundation or any charity.
