It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing away of Alma Harding. Mom passed away quietly on April 15, 2011, after having suffered a stroke in November 2010.

Mom is survived by her husband of 58 years Fred, her five children Georgina (Jim), Allan (Doris), Doreen, Marilyn, and Nancy (Kim); her five grandchildren Candice, Crystal, Dalton, Morgan, and Rose and one great grandchild; step grandchildren Justin, Holly, Crystal, and Travis; brother Hank (Irene); sister Hilda; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was predeceased by her parents Georg and Katrina; brothers Ronnie, Chris, Otto, Oscar; sister Frida and children Jean and Joanne.

Mom was born October 11, 1934 and grew up in Brocklehurst on the family homestead that her father bought when the family first moved to Kamloops in 1933. Mom spent all of her life here in Kamloops, first on the family farm in Brocklehurst and then at the home that she and Fred built after they married on Tranquille Rd., the last move that she made was to a smaller house in Brocklehurst, close to where she grew up, in 2007. Mom always loved having her family around and there was never any shortage as the family grew in generations it grew in members and she did her best to stay in touch with as many as she could. Mom was never one who liked to travel however, as her children left home and moved away she always made sure to go and visit.

The family would like to thank the staff at RIH who looked after Mom before she moved to Overlander. The family would also like to thank the staff at Overlander for looking after Mom in her last days, without the support they offered this journey would not have been the same.

A memorial service will be held for Mom on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Alliance Church, 233 Fortune Drive.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society or the charity of their choice.
