CALVIN DONALD TOWNSEND
February 27, 1945 - July 30, 2009
Cal passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on July 30, 2009, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Armstrong, BC. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky, and their three children, Donald (Edmonton, AB), Lorena (Calgary, AB), and Stacy (Vancouver, BC). Cal was born in Assiniboia, SK, on February 27, 1934. He joined the Air Force at the age of 17 as his dream was always to become a pilot. After the Air Force, Cal worked to earn enough so that he could attend the University and become a teacher. He made a great many friends over the years as the teaching community was also like a family. Cal loved many things and was always involved in some new adventure (a gift he passed on to his children). From teaching, to flying, to beekeeping, to hunting, anything he wanted to try, he did. Cal was an incredible husband, father and friend and will be fondly remembered always. The family would like to thank the staff at Polson Special and Pleasant Valley Manor for the care given to Cal and also for the friendship and kindness shown to his family. In respecting Cal’s wishes, he was cremated and a small personal service was held for his family at home. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society.
