Stephen Shred, age 80, of Cape Tormentine, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Monday, April 18, 2011. Born in Castleton, ON, he was a son of the late Robert and Emily Jane (Westover) Shred. Stephen believed in a hard days work. During his career, he was employed by Larmounts, CNR, Warrens Construction, Paturel's, Malden Esso and LaFarge. He fished with his father in law Edgar Cormier, was a mechanic and could drive anything on tracks or wheels. He will be dearly missed by his wife Constance (Cormier) Shred, Cape Tormentine; four daughters, Shelly Wiens (Dennis), Victoria, BC, Cindy Cardinal (Doug), Cape Tormentine, Patricia Sweeney, Malden, Stephanie Shred-Steeves (Greg), Cape Traverse, PEI; six grandchildren, one great grandson; sisters Emma Bragg, Port Hope, ON, Audrey Jones, Castleton, ON. He was predeceased by brothers Robert, Albert, George, Sam, and Cliff; sisters, Daisy Haynes, Harriett Ellis, and Betty Jones.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin, NB (506-538-2241) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday from 2 to 4 pm. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 2 pm, William Drysdale DLM officiating. Burial will follow in the Fernwood Cemetery.
