Passed away peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, Demetrios "Jim" Kourtis, age 77 years. Predeceased by his father Peter; mother Demetra and brother Peter; brother-in-law Peter; father-in-law Hanuel. Leaving to mourn his wife Wilma; daughters: Demetra and Maggie (Jordan) and grandson Damien. He also leaves behind a large group of extended family including his sister Stella; brothers Louis (Pauline), John, Spiro (Sandra); mother-in-law Gladys; sisters-in-law Frances, Joyce, Gloria (Wayne), Bonnie (Roy), Sandy (Wade) and brothers-in-law Wilf (Claudia) and Bruce (Sheila); as well as many nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. As a successful entrepreneur and proud member of the Greek Community, Jim made many friends throughout the years that truly made Newfoundland feel like home. Special thank you to Carmel Collins for all her assistance at the end of Jim's journey. Visitation to be held from Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm. Funeral service to be held from Barrett's Chapel on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
