Passed peacefully away at Palliative Care, Miller Centre on August 4, 2009, Rita Nellie Marina Hann, RN (nee Bath) of St. John’s, N.L., aged 73 years. Predeceased by her father Joseph Bath, mother Margarete Bath Gillard and brother Wilfred Bath. She is remembered with lovely memories by her children: Sherry Learning (Mark Haynes), Dallas, TX, Bill Hann (Denise), St. John’s and Wendy McDermott (Kevin), Sherwood Park, Alta.; cherished grandchildren: Candice Learning Maliska (Jarad), Chad and Jessica Hann, Erin, Scott and Tara McDermott; great-grandchild Zachary Maliska; sisters: Goldie White, Makkovik, Pat Pye, Halifax, N.S., Margo (Allen), Oshawa, Ont.; brothers: David (Mary Lou), Richmond, N.B., Kai (Cindy), St. John’s, Joey, Northern Alberta; sisters-in-law: Joan Bath, Marjorie Squire and Marcie Traverse (Ross); plus many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the many family, friends and careworkers who visited and helped during her illness. Rita was born in Westport, N.L. and moved to various areas of N.L. due to her father’s profession and her own teaching career. She eventually settled in St. John’s, N.L. where she completed her nursing education at the Grace Hospital and became a registered nurse, working at the Grace Hospital and St. Lukes Nursing Home. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., from 10-12, 2-4 and 7-9, Thursday and Friday. Funeral services to be held from St. James United Church, on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Rita’s memory can be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Miller Centre.
