MARR, Eva Celestia - 96, Dartmouth, formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, April 21, 2011, in Dartmouth General Hospital, Dartmouth. She was born April 27, 1914, in Selma, Hants County. Eva resided in Truro until the age of 92 at which time she went to live with her nephew, Robert Quigley and family, in Dartmouth. Eva worked at Stanfield’s Ltd. in Truro for 35 years before retiring in 1979. She was a devote member of Saint James Presbyterian Church where she was involved in a variety of ministries including teaching Sunday school for 23 years. Eva was predeceased by her beloved grandparents, Silas and Mary Smith (Selma, Hants County); her mother, Maie (Smith) Taylor; stepfather, Robert Taylor; husband, Charles Arthur Marr; sisters, Edna Quigley, Evelyn Lewis. She is survived by her nephew, Robert Quigley and wife, Deborah (Baker) and children Lee, Julia and Oliver; nieces, Nancy (Mrs. Paul Parker) and children Eva and Sophie, Auckland, New Zealand; Donna (Mrs. Grant Ballam) and children Grant and Amanda, Milford. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2011, in Saint James Presbyterian Church, 725 Prince Street, Truro, Reverend Clair MacLeod officiating. Reception will follow in the church basement. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eva’s memory to Saint James Presbyterian Church are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
