Doris Antle passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 5, 2009 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Wickham County, Durham, England. She was the daughter of the late Emily and Thomas Hickson and came as a war bride to Edward in 1945. They lived most of their married lives on Meadows Road, Sydney Forks.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Sandra Anderson, Glace Bay; her two sons, John Antle and Donald (Karen) Antle, both of British Columbia; her eight grandchildren, Vicki (Anderson) MacInnis, Robert Todd and Michael Anderson, Otto, Kaitlyn, Alex, Andrew and Taylor Antle. She is also survived by one brother, Henry Hickson, Newcastle, England. Also dear to her heart brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, both here and overseas.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Ethel Hayes; three brothers, Norman, Leslie and John Hickson.
Soft and gentle with a kind word for all and a cup of tea with some of her home made goodies for all that passed through the door. She will be greatly missed.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 10, 2009 at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay, with Fr. Frank Abbass. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
