On August 11th, 2017, our family was forever changed. We, the family of Cody Burke, wish to offer our most sincere gratitude to each and every person that visited, phoned, dropped off food, coffee and tea; we’re forever grateful. To those who made donations in Cody’s memory, online condolences, sent flowers and traveled from afar, thank you so much. We cannot express how grateful we are for the community we call home; to our friends and neighbors, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the support you’ve shown our family. We would like to thank the following individuals: Father Ray Huntley and the priests who concelebrated. Nipper MacLeod for his moving rendition of Amazing Grace and the Saint Leonard Choir for their heartwarming music. Ladies Auxiliary for the beautiful luncheon. Millan and Bobby; your deed did not go unnoticed. Lloyd for the love and compassion he has put into his woodwork for Cody and the support he has shown our family.Cody’s basketball and soccer teammates for the honorary guard; Cody would have been overwhelmed by your gesture. Honorary pallbearers, Curtis, Daryl, Matthew, Cory, Jon, and Adam; thank you for taking Cody home. Winston and Jessica for the beautiful readings. Cody’s godparents, Tella and Joe for the offertory. We cannot express our gratitude for the gestures that have been shown by Joe and Cody’s union brothers and sisters; we will never forget what you’ve done for our family. You continue to make Cody proud each day. To the biker community, your presence was absolutely overwhelming and brought our family and immense amount of comfort; Cody was grinning from ear to ear and could hear the rumbles in heaven. Kellie and Allan for the beautiful breakfast. To Basil Sr., Basil Jr. and Kenny; it is difficult to express in words how thankful we are for the absolute professionalism, compassion and attention to detail you provided our family in our most trying days; we are forever grateful. To Joe’s family for being by our side every step of the way; thank you. To Sandra’s family and in particular, her sisters (whom she views as her angels on Earth), who have been with us every step of the way and continue to do so every day, you carried us in our most difficult days; we love you so much.
Cody touched countless lives in his short twenty years. He lived life to the fullest and took nothing for granted; we can all learn from Cody’s short life, for he taught us more lessons than we could ever imagine and he continues to do so on a daily basis. Your smile, kind heart and humor are missed more than you can imagine. Your memories keep us going – till we see you again.
-Only the good die young.
