PRICE, RICHARD “DICK” G. - Surrounded by his loving family, Richard “Dick” George Price of Doaktown, N.B. passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 24, 2011. He was 87. Born July 26, 1923 in McNamee, N.B. he was the son of the late Douglas and Minnie (Murphy) Price. Dick was a member of the Doaktown United Pentecostal Church and was a Mill Worker and a Woods Worker for the most part of his life. An avid outdoorsman, he was a fishing guide until just a few years ago. He loved taking long walks and especially enjoyed telling stories, listening to music and he had a keen interest in family history. A passionate family man, Dick always made sure his family came first. He will be sadly missed by his children, Eileen Martel (Vincent) of Ottawa, Tommy Price of Doaktown, Crystal Clowater (Dana) of Fredericton and Derek Price (Alice) of Doaktown. He was a much loved and cherished grandfather to Stacey Corey (Scott), Eric Martell (Heather), Amy Clowater, Vanessa Clowater, Taylor Price, Chloe Price and will be forever loved by great-granddaughters Kristen Corey, Kianna Corey and Kara Corey. Dick is also survived by a brother Douglas “Bun” Price (Gert) of Fredericton and a sister Dora Lyons of Boiestown; numerous nieces and nephews. Dick also leaves behind a very special friend, Mary LaPointe of Fredericton. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Amy Jane Price in 2002; a sister Georgie Price; four half-brothers Wilbur, Walter, Cecil and Lester Long and two half-sisters Ada Porter and Margaret Brown.
The family will receive condolences at the Doaktown United Pentecostal Church on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 from 2 to 4 P.M. and 7 to 9 P.M. A service celebrating Dick’s life will be held from the church on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Russell Morehouse officiating assisted by Rev. Jim Lewis. Interment in the First Doaktown Pentecostal Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. The family wish to express a heartfelt “thank you” to the wonderful and caring Doctors and Nurses of I.C.U. at the D.E.C.H. for their dedication, compassion and concern in caring for their loved one. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Doaktown United Pentecostal Church. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of BISHOP’S FUNERAL HOME, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton (458-1885).
