It is with profound sadness that I announce the death of my father, Roy Francis Burke, who passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Sarah and James Burke.
Roy was recently predeceased by his adored wife, Vivian Charlotte, never apart for over 68 years, now together again.
For over 40 years, Roy was employed by the Sydney Steel Corp. in the electrical department.
Roy was the father of three children, two sons, James and Donald and daughter, Margaret.
In his youth, Roy was a natural athlete excelling in such sports as hockey as well as baseball and bowling. Roy was an avid outdoorsman especially as a hunter and fisherman.
At this time a great deal of thanks must go out to the VON whose dedication to their clients knows no bounds — Roy thanks you all especially Helen and Lois. I would like to thank Dr. Glen Gracie of Sydney Family Practice for all his care and compassion given to dad.
Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Open Door Shelter, 32 Margaret St., Sydney, N.S.
