SANDY F.A. MACDONALD

SANDY F.A. MACDONALD SANDY F.A. MACDONALD

September 6, 1927 – October 30, 2017
Sandy passed away peacefully with family by his side. Survived by wife of 64 years, Janet, daughter Heather (John), son Donald (Laura), grandsons Sandy (Kellie), Donald, Chris and great-granddaughters Mia and Isla.
Sandy was born in North Kessock, Scotland. He joined the Merchant Navy at sixteen for five years, two of which were during W.W. 11. After that in Inverness he did a five year apprenticeship in fitting and turning machining and tool and die making. After that he went to Fall River, Massachusetts and worked in a machine shop for a year and returned to Scotland. In 1956 him, Janet and daughter Heather immigrated to Ocean Falls, BC where his son Donald was born in 1957. He worked in the mill and worked his way up the ladder to a first class steam engineer and then on to management. Always up for a challenge he wrote the millwrights ticket and pipefitting ticket while on staff. Sandy and Janet retired to Gibsons in 1986. He had many interests and was kind, fair and he liked to help anyone anytime. He will be sorely missed by many.
The family thanks Dr. Murphy, Dr. Wadge and Dr. Werb, and the other doctors, nurses and staff at the Sechelt Hospital for taking such good care of him right to the end. Thank you also to all the home care nurses, dieticians and paramedics.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Gibsons Garden Hotel, 936 Gibsons Way, Gibsons, from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
