Edward Gaffney
GAFFNEY, EDWARD A. - Edward A. Gaffney passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on April 26th after a long battle with cancer. Born in Shediac, New Brunswick in 1931 he is survived by three children, Susan (Alan) of Moncton, Ronald (Cindy) of Fredericton, and Donna (Mike) of Moncton. He will also be greatly missed by his four grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and his good friend Boyd Parker. His wife, Dorothy (nee Gillespie), passed away in 2009. Edward became an apprentice with Canadian National Railway in Moncton almost immediately after graduating high school and continued there until his retirement in the 1980’s. He was very proud of his railway service and remained close to many friends and colleagues from those days. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Edward’s chosen charities including The Friends of the Moncton Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or Prostate Cancer Canada.
At Edward’s request there will be no viewing. A service and reception is scheduled for Fair Haven Funeral Home on Saturday, April 30th, at 1:00 pm.
