BUSSE – Bernhard (Bernard) age 76, a retired farmer/rancher of Swift Current, SK passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at the Cypress Regional Hospital. Bernard is survived by his wife of 50 yrs and 2 weeks, Lena; 3 sons, Perry (Maddy) of Banff, AB, Miles (Rosalie) of Grande Prairie, AB, Wade of Lloydminster, SK and 1 Daughter, Roxane (Roger) of Swift Current, SK. He is also survived by: 1 grandson Alex Busse; 3 step grandchildren, Kama Regier, Alicia Smith, Michael Cobler and 4 step-great-grandchildren, McKenzie Regier Armstrong, Broden Smith, Ella Smith and Dillon Smith and 1 sister Edith of Edmonton, AB. Bernard was predeceased by; his parents, Jim and Herta Busse and Richard and Bertha Busse; sisters Agnes and Edna and grand-daughter Pamela. Bernard was born in the district of Hallonquist in 1935. Upon finishing school in Hallonquist and Swift Current he attended one year of Bible College in Camrose, AB. He then worked on various ranches, finding his true passion in life as well as the love of horses. At the Pete Parron Ranch he met his beloved wife Lena, they were married on April 6, 1961. After two years of marriage they moved back to Hallonquist where Bernard farmed with his father for 6 years. In 1968 they moved to the farm themselves. Bernard & Lena lived and farmed on the family farm raising their 4 children until retiring in 2008 when they sold the farm and moved to Swift Current. Bernard was a former member of the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool, raised purebred Charolais Cattle and Quarter Horses and was an active member of both Purebred Associations. Bernard & Lena loved the Boundary Commission Wagon Train and participated in this ride for 3 years. He always enjoyed his family camping trips, fishing and having coffee with friends. Friends wishing to make a donation in Bernard’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Church of the Open Bible with Pastor Dave Smith officiating.
