Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, William Joseph Bassett, age 73, on November 12, 2017 in the presence of his loving family. Predeceased by his parents George and Bridget Bassett and his sister Sheila. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, is his devoted and loving wife Virginia; three sons Peter, Michael, Billy (Alison); precious granddaughter Gabrielle; brothers George and Kevin; sisters June (Nick), Rosemary (Jim, deceased), Catherine (Mike) and Betty, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Tuesday, November 14 and Wednesday, November 15 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place from the Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
