On April 25, 2011, Mrs. Louise Andrews passed away peacefully at Ponderosa Lodge, Kamloops, surrounded by family at the age of 84 years.
Louise is survived by her loving son Bill (Bea) Foottit of Courtenay, B.C.; daughter Sharon (Peter) Philip of Knutsford, B.C.; daughter-in-law Diana Gaucher of Innisfail, AB; sister Irene McConnell of Duncan, B.C.; and eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her first husband Harold Foottit, second husband Wesley Andrews, and son Alan Foottit.
At Louise's request instead of a formal service there will be a family and friends get together in June. Should friends desire in lieu of flowers donations could be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 203-635 Victoria Street, Kamloops, B.C., V2C 2B3.
Louise was born August 17, 1926, in Vancouver, to Scottish immigrant parents James and Agnes Charlton. Louise and sister Irene were raised primarily in Vancouver except for one year they spent with relatives in Scotland. At the age of 15 Louise began working full time at Kelly Douglas, importers of tea, coffee and spices. She continued to work there until she married Harold Foottit, watchmaker at the age of 20. Hal and Louise had three children, Bill, Al and Sharon. Louise was a homemaker for about 15 years before returning to the work force part-time at Sears in catalogue sales and eventually working full-time as a parts person until she retired in 1981. Louise lost her first husband in 1975. She remarried in 1978 to Wesley Andrews, a Sears appliance repairman. In 1982 the couple retired to Kamloops where they lived for the remainder of their lives.
Throughout her life Louise loved to travel, go camping, square dance, golf and bowl. As well, she kept her family well supplied in hand knitted sweaters, scarves and hats. Her favourite things to knit were for new arrivals to the family. Louise will be remembered for her devotion to family, loyalty to friends and love of animals.
We will miss you Louise, Mum, Grandma!
