STELLARTON - Gloria Faith Ross, 78, of Birch Street, Stellarton. It is with great sadness that Gloria’s family announces her passing on August 11th, 2009 after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Gloria was the daughter of the late Edith S. MacLeod (Turnbull), Stellarton.
Gloria was predeceased by her husband, Robert Cameron Ross; and her son, George Robert Ross.
She leaves behind a son, William Graham (Ann) Ross, Stellarton; daughters, Heather (John) Poulain, Stellarton; Mary Lynn (Donald) Lewis, Truro; treasured granddaughters: Jacqueline Poulain, Emily and Ellen Lewis.
She was employed with the Maritime Tel & Tel for many years. Later she was employed with the Aberdeen Hospital working in the physiotherapy department. She enjoyed the girls and the laughs they shared. After retirement, Gloria volunteered with the Hospital Auxillary, became a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, also a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star, Harmony Chapter #25 where she recently received her 50-year pin.
The family will receive visitors from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, August 13 in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. from the funeral home with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care and staff, as well as the Victorian Order of Nurses of the Aberdeen Hospital.
No flowers by request. Donations in memory of Gloria may be made to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital.
