Hanes, James Wesley “Jim†- 58, Truro passed away peacefully on August 10, 2009 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Truro on November 13, 1950, he was the oldest son of Lorraine (Timmons) (Hanes) Sullivan and the late Alvin Hanes. Jim worked for CN Railway for many years and was employed at Casey Concrete for the past eight years. He was a member of the Horseman’s Association and the Air Force Club. He was an avid sportsman in hockey and golf. Jim enjoyed racing horses and you could always find him at the race track with many racing friends. He is survived by his mother, Lorraine (Timmons) (Hanes) Sullivan and his stepfather, John Sullivan, Truro; son, Peter (Nicole), Newfoundland; his companion, Rita Houghton, Truro; brother, Brian (Gilda), Truro; maternal grandmother, Margaret Timmons, Truro; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Beth O’Brien; father, Alvin Hanes; paternal grandparents, Fred and Ethel Hanes; maternal grandfather, Wesley Timmons. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 14 from 6-9 pm; memorial service on Saturday, August 15 at 2:00 pm, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Dr. Brian Ross officiating. Following the Service, a reception will be held in the Horseman’s Club, Bible Hill. Private family interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only.
