DiCARLO, LOUIS JOSEPH - Louis Joseph DiCarlo of Minto, passed away peacefully May 4, 2011. He was the eldest son of the late Dominic and Nellie (Cherubini/Corbin) DiCarlo. He was in his 91st year. Louis is survived by his son John DiCarlo (Florence) of Minto, his son Mario DiCarlo of Fredericton/Minto, his daughter Marilyn Friel (Patrick) of Yarmouth, NS/Minto, his grandsons Glenn Friel (Kyla) and Michael DiCarlo; his granddaughters Tara Friel Gillis (Sean), Laurie Anne Friel, Maria DiCarlo, Jane DiCarlo, by his brother Angelo DiCarlo (Peggy), his sisters Mary Lynch (Tom) and Laura Savoie, his aunt Adelina (DiCarlo) DiAdamo, Also survived by Peggy MacBeth, Shirley Raymond and Gordon Corbin. He has many nephews and nieces. Predeceased by his wife Glenna 2009; brothers Murray and Rollie; brother-in-law Jimmy Savoie and nephew Donnie Savoie. Louis loved the village of Minto and was one of its strongest supporters. In 1948, he built his brick building at 87 Main St. and formed Louis DiCarlo Ltd. which he owned and operated for over 40 years. When Minto became incorporated in 1967 he was elected a village councilor and also was elected for a second term from 1969 to 1971. The main focus of his life was his family and his church. A founding member of the Father Dysart Council of the Knights of Columbus in 1949, he served for 62 years and was Grand Knight from 1968 to 1970 – 4th degree. He and Glenna were proud to sponsor several children through the Christian Children’s Fund throughout the years. He always enjoyed meeting and talking with people. Times in the store, hunting, fishing, on the golf course, or the old days at DiCarlo’s Pool Hall were his favourite topics. After his retirement, he and Glenna spent their time with their family and working in the garden at the farm. Louis especially loved and will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren.
Resting at Hogg Funeral Services (10 King Street, Minto) with visiting on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00AM Monday, May 9th, 2011 from Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Paul Erzoah – Bebodu officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
