Ida Wright-Grant
The death of I. Helen Wright-Grant occurred on Friday, May 6, 2011 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Julia (Waddell) Cathline and Alexander Cathline. She was born on March 6, 1914 in Centerton, King’s County, NB. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband John A. Wright, second husband Donald H. Grant, son Eric Wright and five brothers and two sisters. She attended Kingston Consolidated High School and won the Governor General Medal. She attended Provincial Normal School and taught for 22 years in New Brunswick schools. She was past chief of Martello Temple # 25 and a volunteer with the blind at the Boys and Girls Club for 13 years. She assisted in delivering Meals on Wheels for several years. She was a friend of the Salvation Army and a member of St. Mary & St. Bartholomew’s Church. She is survived by her son John A. (Phyllis) Wright and daughter Janice (John) Levy both of Saint John; daughter-in-law Brenda Wright; five grandsons Billy, Wayne and Glendon Wright, Jason and Aaron Levy; twin granddaughters Julia and Kathleen Wright; 10 great-grandchildren and wonderful nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Monday, May 9, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery.
