BEST, Sheldon Dean - 80, of Coldbrook, Kings County, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Coldbrook, he was a son of the late Grant and Essadora “Dora” (Russell) Best. He began his working career with Hayes Mill and was later employed with Scotian Gold. He retired from the Kings County Correctional Centre after 20 years. He was a member of the Draft Horse Association, Kentville Masonic Lodge No. 58, the Northville Heritage Farm Museum and looked forward to attending horse and oxen pulls. He is survived by a son, Eugene (Barbara), Coldbrook; a sister, Gloria (Robert “Bob”) Redden, South Alton; a brother, Laverne (Joyce), Kingston; one grandson, Anthony; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Pauline Bezanson; three brothers, Alden, Harley and Delmar. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2011 with a Masonic Lodge service held at 7:00 p.m., both in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2011, Reverend Doctor Judith Saunders officiating. Burial took place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Kings County. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Valley Hospice Foundation.
