1939 – 2009
Once again it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a brother William David (Dave) McKay, he passed away on Friday, August 14, 2009 a t the age of 70 years. David was born on April 23rd, 1939 in Kinistino, Saskatchewan. David attend Pahonan & Falcon School where he lived with his Aunt Ida and Uncle Bill Ballentyne. He then moved onto Meadow Lake where he graduated grade 12. Dave worked at many different jobs throughout his life. Dew Line Mine as a Bull cook and from there David moved to Prince George, BC where he was a cooks helper at many bush camps. From there David’s journey’s made his way back home to Prince Albert to work for Manpower in which he worked for many years. Then he went to James Smith Reserve where he worked as a counselor. He then moved back to Prince Albert and began working as a Native Alcohol Counselor with NAC (Native Alcohol Center). David then retired due to disability. David loved music, dancing, playing cards and most of all attending the Prince Albert Raiders hockey games. David was predeceased by his parents Colin and Marjorie (Plant) McKay; his brothers Ken McKay, George McKay who passed away August 3, 2009, Floyd McKay; his sister Lillian McKay; his 5 brothers-in-law Felix Boyer, Ed Servetnyk, Walter Church, Randy Herkert, Vernon Ebach. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers Gerald (Janet Crawford) McKay, Dale McKay, Melvin (Myrtle Deschambeault) McKay, Frank (Susan Taylor) McKay, Wes (Marilyn Nelson) McKay; his sisters Rose Boyer, Freda Church, Helen Herkert, Vera Servetnyk, Floranne Ebach; his sisters-in-law Peggy (McDougall) McKay, Kay (Robinson) McKay; his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends who loved him very much. David passed his life fulfilling God’s commandments of love thy neighbour. No doubt when he entered his new home was he greeted by God, but also by his mom, dad, sister, brothers, relatives and a large number of friends. You will be sadly missed by all. Celebration of the lives of David and his brother George will commence with prayer service at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 18 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19 from River Park Memorial Chapel. Reverend Rick Martin will officiate. Interment will take place at Glen Mary Cemetery. It is the family’s request that donations be made to Saskatchewan Lung Association or Osteoporosis Foundation. Family and friends may send email condolences to www.riverparkfuneral.ca. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Don Moriarty.
